Life can be fucking nuts sometimes.
There are plenty of ways to deal, but getting lost in stories to learn and grow is as old as language. A bit of fun only makes it easier.
That’s why I write fantasy.
Fantasy Writer
According to my primary school yearbook, “when I grow up I want to be an author or businessman”.
10 years later I was riding my bike when the idea for a post-apocalyptic world popped into my head. I started writing it down and it bloomed into my first 90 000-word novel.
Damn did it need work. The themes were as subtle as a chair thrown through a window.
I still try and get those big themes into my writing, but a lot has changed since then. I’ve studied the ‘craft’, written hundreds of thousands of words, and been on some wild personal journeys.
20 years since that primary school dream, I write grants for a not-for-profit, so I’m definitely not a businessman. I am however, a writer on a journey to getting published.
